Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering | Resources for Online Students

Many students have told me that they have a LinkedIn account, but aren’t really sure how to use it. Typically, someone they know has sent a request to connect. So, they do. Perhaps they will create a profile and might even send out a few requests for connections… and that’s about it.

Did you know that LinkedIn has 277 million users (as of February 6, 2014)?

Did you know that there are 2.1 million LinkedIn Groups on a multitude of topics?

Do you know how to do an “advanced people search” where you can sort by job title, industry, company and geographic location?

Do you know how to find ASU alumni?

Do you know how to use LinkedIn find entry-level jobs and internships?

LinkedIn is a powerful tool that can be used for gathering career information, finding out about companies, looking for jobs as well as building your professional network.

I’ve declared March 17-21 “LinkedIn Week” for Fulton Students. Meet with peer career coaches or call our office at 480-965-2966 to schedule an appointment with a staff member or peer career coach to discover what LinkedIn can do for you.
